The Bazaruto Archipelago
The Bazaruto Archipelago is one of the last paradises on earth.
It is composed of 5 beautiful islands, surrounded by crystal waters and the whitest sand banks.
Walking or lying on the beach you will be able to enjoy the views of the island and check the dhows leaving or coming back from their fishing day.
Bazaruto, Benguerra and Magaruque are easily accessible from Vilanculos on day trips.
Bazaruto is where you want to go when you are in Vilanculos (see slideshow).
Santa Carolina is further away and easier to reach from Inhassoro (70km up north).
Bangue is more of a sand bank and there is not much to do there.
The bay is home to dolphins (humpback, bottlenose and spinner) that you can easily spot from the boats bringing you to one or the other island, and to the elusive dugong.
The Bazaruto Archipelago is classified as a National Park and offers beautiful snorkeling and diving, as well as wonderful horse rides.
